Q.D. Consulting courses are aimed at those technical professionals who want to improve the efficiency and quality of their Research and Development work through the use of Design of Experiments. The workshops focus on the practical aspects of applied statistics with a hands-on approach to training. The trainers are experienced professional scientists who provide down-to-earth advice on Design of Experiments, emphasising proven methods without dwelling on the mathematics.

All engineers, scientists and quality professionals need to learn how to use the tools of applied statistics. Some knowledge of basic statistics helps, but is not required to get started. (If in doubt about qualifications contact Q.D.) Computational tools make it easy to do classwork. You will use computers and Design-Ease or Design-Expert software, provided by Q.D. Consulting. These highly acclaimed programs have been developed by scientists for scientists. They lead the user step by step through the design and analysis of an experiment using easy to understand graphical output, and are thus ideal for the non-statistician.

DoE Overview: a summary of key aspects of DoE that all personnel should understand to provide proper support for designed experiments. Particularly aimed at middle and higher management responsible for development activities and their financing. Normally a half-day session, but can be reduced to two hours or extended to a full day.

VENUES

Cambridge Professional Development Centre. The Centre is situated in the Trumpington area, on the southern outskirts of the university city of Cambridge. With ample parking it is easily accessed from the M11 motorway (Junction 11), and is within a mile of the city centre.

COURSE LEADER

Alan Collins BA. MSc. is principal of Q.D. Consulting, which specialises in the provision of consultancy and training in Design of Experiments and related statistical techniques. Mr Collins developed his expertise in statistical and numerical techniques during ten years with PA Technology (part of the international PA Consulting Group) working in development consultancy. He used the techniques within development projects and carried out training for client companies. Since its beginning in 1989, Q.D. Consulting has trained personnel from chemical, pharmaceutical, food and engineering companies. Mr Collins has presented papers on Design of Experiments at International conferences.
